Castlemead
Camberwell Arts :workshop has been working with young people on the Castlemead Estate since March 2007.
The Castlemead Interactions project was initiated by the Castlemead Tenants’ and Residents’ Association and Camberwell Arts :workshop. Artists Carl Stevenson and Isa Suarez worked with young people from the Castlemead every Saturday afternoon from March to June to bring the Estate into a realm of life on earth as you’ve never seen it before…
The project has resulted in a short radio show (click on the link below to listen) featuring the sounds and tales of the alien invasion of Castlemead as told by the young people themselves. An installation of fantastical creatures, aliens and robots gradually took shape on the Castlemead and messages from the alien landing were sent off into space in helium balloon spaceships and via a special newsletter that has been distributed to all the local households…
