Camberwell Arts Festival 2008
14-22 June
The Camberwell Arts Festival is a celebration of the thriving cultural scene in SE5 and its surrounding area. This annual festival has become a regular and popular feature in South London and once again this week-long event will give emerging and established artists a platform to show their work within the vibrant community of Camberwell.
This year’s Festival opens with Pub Crawl – a performance art trail through some of Camberwell’s best-loved pubs. From Karaoke to a ukele orchestra, it showcases new work exploring the role of the pub in British cultural life. It launches a week-long programme of exhibitions, live art, open studios, screenings, talks, walks, workshops and family activities as Camberwell throws open its doors.
Coinciding with Love Parks Week, this year’s Festival takes arts out onto the streets and into Camberwell’s many green spaces. Camberwell Green creates a green art trail throughout Camberwell, presenting work on Camberwell Green, parks, pavements, shops and local estates.
Exhibit your own work during this year’s Festival, by taking part in our Paint the Whole Town Green workshops on Sunday 15th June or by joining the wide array of artists taking part in Front Window.
The Camberwell Arts Festival is a partnership between local artists, residents and organisations. It is co-ordinated by Camberwell Arts in partnership with Camberwell College of Arts and the South London Gallery. They have been supported by this year’s key sponsor, Cowling and Wilcox.
