This is the story of Gilda she is 114 years old. In her day she was 'quite a girl' and liked to flirt with the dangerous side of life. She liked a good time and had delusions of grandeur.

The idea that remembrance is warm and sentimental, in reality for some the past is often a dark mysterious place where events ware harsh and lives endured absorbed in secrets frequently too atrocious to divulge.

From this background stories are told by the courageous who feel the need to exorcise the ghosts of the predecessors. These stories passed down like Chinese whispers, are kept as trophies by the contemporary generation, digested and retold in a climate of discussion, safety and support. For those whose lives repeat the past they are trapped in a cycle of events that cannot be broken. Their stories are not told but lived.

GILDA STORIES FROM A PUB SOMEWHERE IN EPPING FOREST, ENGLAND.

Works on paper/text and paint. 2008
Stories from a Pub Somewhere in Epping Forest is taken from Gilda's diary entry for 1944. There is always an undercurrent of danger in Gilda's life, images are portrayed with a mixture of sexual overtones and symbolic references to freedom which allows the viewer to read into stories that capture a small slice of darkness. These snapshots of events encourage the audience to explore the next chapter of the story in their own imagination.

GILDA SERIES 1

- Installation. Readymades/paint 2007
Gilda Series 1 follows the events of Gilda. Painted on 1950's lampshades and using electric light to provide a warm glow of sentimentality. These stories present snapshots of Gilda's private life, her intimate quiet moments that come before the danger.
