Since completing his studies in 2002, Ryan Gander has been short-listed for the Beck’s Futures prize and won numerous awards (including the Baloise Art Prize, the ABN AMRO Art Award and the Paul Hamlyn Award).

Gander works across a range of media, creating work in various visual, written or spoken languages. By appropriating existing art and design work to generate new pieces, Gander creates fictional histories, traced from real historical moments and turning points in visual culture. This exhibition is the first opportunity to see a significant body of Gander’s work in London and consists of entirely new installations, interventions and film. The exhibition also includes a number of pieces made specifically for the SLG.

Climate change is happening. How will you adapt to a ‘post-energy’ society? Explore alternative transport with the SLG’s artist-in-residence, Andrea Mason, and members of The Sceaux Gardens Estate Development Think Tank (Fun) Club as they hop, skip, jump, scoot, cycle, free-run, three-legged walk, stilt-walk or cartwheel around the estate.

União da Mocidade – a pan-London Brazilian music project for young people – will lead the way with their Rio-style samba carnival music. Andrea is spending six months on the estate as part of the SLG’s Making Play project.
