The Artist as Catalyst – the role of Artists and Artists Studios’

Southwark Arts Forum invites you to our next Networking Event in partnership with Camberwell Arts. This SAF networking event is part of the Camberwell Arts Festival. Please join us for a lively event to share information, and lots of new contacts and links.

As the cultural networking organisation in Southwark, SAF are keen to support and promote the role of the artist in local communities – what is the impact of their work on a locale and in what ways might this work enrich the local economy and regeneration programmes? Is the work of the Artist fully recognised? In this context, the presentation from Camberwell Arts will focus on the SE5 locale and outline some of the opportunities, both with internal investment as well as forming new pan-London strategic partnerships.

We are especially keen to explore the role of the studio artist – whether operating in a collective or in isolation. Are artists maximising opportunities by linking up with local and pan-london networks? How can these resources better access the very people they aim to serve? What could be the scope for collaborative working and tapping into the wider Cultural Industries agenda? Particularly given the increased interest in work/live spaces, incubation units and and buildings where there is a mixture of artists and cultural organisations clustered under one roof networking and sharing resources?
