Vanguard Court was once owned by Robert & John White, makers of R Whites lemonade, and also saw the building of London's first omnibuses around 1900 and later, the manufacture of Vanguard Luggage until the 1980s. Now home to a buzzing, creative, and collegiate community of like-minded creative makers, it has gained an enviable reputation over the last thirty years as a unique creative community, with occupants including Turner Prize shortlisted artists.

Hidden behind Denmark Place Baptist church, on Coldharbour Lane are wonderfully atmospheric artists studios which have been going since the late 1980’s. Rumor has it they were some of
the core founding members of the first Open Studios in 1994, a programme that became Camberwell Arts Festival. Now 25 years later is hosts a dozen painters and print makers
