Multi-award-winning men’s mental health show makes its London debut this May
Men account for three quarters of all UK suicides. After a sellout, award-winning premiere at Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in 2021, Toxic will make its London debut in May 2023.
A play that tackles men's mental health, toxic masculinity and friendship, it follows two best friends and their battles with mental health. Andy discovers his husband has been having an affair. James is a man’s man, who uses gags to disguise his vulnerability. They have to learn to speak up or be swallowed, and their lives are not the only lives at stake. Starring an all-northern cast: Patrick Price, Joe Facer, Tommy Leonard, and Ethan Reardon, the show moves seamlessly between dry humour and heartfelt confessions, which has left its previous, sellout audiences roaring with laughter and reaching for the tissues.
Toxic is written by Dan Lovatt, directed by Connor Goodwin, and will be produced by Divided Culture Co., Lovatt and Goodwin’s production company. In its premiere run, Toxic won the 2021 Write for the Stage Award and the OffFest Award for outstanding fringe theatre, alongside a nomination for Best Drama. It makes its London debut this May with a five night run, once again partnering with Andy's Man Club, a charity dedicated to tackling the epidemic of men's mental health. Toxic's past success, along with its vital message, makes it an unmissable production.
Toxic runs from 2-6 May at The Golden Goose Theatre, 46 Camberwell New Rd, London SE5 0RR. Tickets are £15 with £10 concessions and can be bought here: https://www.goldengoosetheatre.co.uk/toxic or through the Golden Goose Theatre website.
